Spinzilla is a global annual event put on by the National Needlearts Association as a way of encouraging the art of spinning and helping spinners develop theirs skills. Just a reminder that summer store hours are in effect, so we are now closed Sundays throughout July and August. We continue to open Tuesday thru Saturday 10 am to 5 pm. We are open our usual hours over the Easter long weekend: Fri & Sat 10 to 5 and Sun noon to 4. We are closed on Monday and there is no Knit Night. Thanks to Heidi of Vegan Yarns for visiting the store yesterday to launch this 100% certified organic, colour-grown cotton. No chemicals are used to grow or colour the spinning fiber and yarn. All harvesting and colour sorting is done by hand, just as it has been since the domestication of cotton in Peru over 5,ooo years ago. We’re tidying up after a busy holiday season and clear out in our annual sale. No sooner did we empty a few shelves when huge boxes of yarn were delivered. We have some new shades of Cascade 220 Superwash, including some nice heathered ones. Seven boxes of Madelinetosh, containing mostly Tosh DK but also some Lace and Merino Light, has our shelves bulging with colour. We have a good selection of Malabrigo Nube, a spinning fiber in some of their most loved colours. And there is much more to come!
