Knitty Summer 2009 is out and it looks like most of the patterns are geared at cool weather items, such as gloves and scarves. A nice summer knit would be “Miss Honeychurch” by Cheryl Niamath (of “Fetching” fame) a three -quarter- length sleeve, top-down, summer sweater in AllHemp6 DK. As Cheryl points out, this yarn gets softer and more comfortable to wear the more it is thrown in the washer and dryer. We have a great selection of colours in the store.
Some new arrivals include:
-Noro “Desginer Mini Knits Two” Jenny Watson Designs. Book One was a best seller in the store and again this one has some great designs for quick projects, including items for children (get an early start on Christmas gifts!).
-KnittingAtKnoon patterns – We just received their new pattern called “Take Me to Your Leader” for four different alien pals. We like the two-headed “Gamma” The samples on the pattern are knitted in Brown Sheep Lamb’s Pride Worsted, which we carry, but any bright Worsted or Aran Wt yarn will do. Also, Judy just finished Brachiosaurus from their “Prehistoric Pals” pattern and he is keeping us company at the sales desk!
-Go Knit Pouches (by Knowknits) in small and medium in a selection of bright colours.
-Check out Judy’s version of the “Silk Kerchief” by Zeitgeist Yarns, on display in the store. Made using alternating rows of 2 shades of Noro Silk Garden Sock Yarn, the skill level is listed as “wicked easy”. Judy used one skein each of shades 269 & 279 until they were finished, making hers a bit larger than the pattern.
